Generalities:The peach tree is a small deciduous fruit tree, although some varieties can reach six meters in height. Its leaves are simple, bright green, slightly elongated in shape with a serrated edge and sometimes reddish-pink flowers. Its fruit is the peach, with a pit inside which is the seed, and is harvested in the summer. It is a tree with great resistance to cold, although it is more typical of temperate climate zones.

 

Variety features: The Royal Glory peach tree is a vigorous tree that produces round peaches with an intense red color and yellow flesh of great flavor.

 

Pollination: Self-fertile, but cross-pollination is recommended to improve productivity.

Drip irrigation system will ensure proper irrigation of fruit trees. However, it must be taken into account that excess water reduces the sugar in the fruit.

 

Pruning: It is advisable to prune fruit trees every year.

Generally speaking, unproductive and dry branches should be removed to ensure better lighting and ventilation. In addition, it helps the fruits to come out with better size and quality. There are different types of pruning, all related to the type of exploitation.

 

Lighting: Full sun. Through pruning, it is possible for the branches to receive good lighting and thus improve the quality and quantity of the fruits.

 

Temperature: Fruit plants need hours of cold to remain at rest and thus produce better quality fruits.

 

Transplant: If the transplant is rooted to another stage, it must be done during the winter rest, on the other hand, if it is from a pot to the ground or to another stage, it can be done at any time of the year.

 

Pests and diseases: It is important to carry out preventive treatments, especially in winter. Curative treatments should be carried out after identifying the problems.

To carry out practical work, it will be interesting to mix a fungicide, insecticide and a foliar fertilizer or amino acid in the application. This will make it convenient to treat fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, mold... and pests such as caterpillars, mealybugs, aphids...
