It is one of the most appreciated and widespread succulents, the flower-of-may, blooms in the middle of autumn, which gives it the name of Christmas flower in the northern hemisphere. For this reason, it is widely marketed at that time as a gift. Its stem is made up of several parts (articles) that can be detached to form new plants. Each year, after flowering, new articles are formed that will be responsible for the next flowering. The delicate, large and bright flowers can be pink, white, orange and red.
It should be cultivated in substrate for epiphytic plants, watered periodically and placed in partial shade. It is very well isolated in pots or in combination with other epiphytes, on trees and prepared walls.
